Sydney Isabell was born on August 29th, 2012 at 10:02 am, she was 7 lbs. 15 oz. 19 3/4" long. I was scheduled to be induced on Tuesday night the 28th. Dave and I went to the hospital and got all checked in. They hooked me up to the monitor and said I was having contractions every 3-5 minutes. I knew I was having contractions but I had been having them for a few weeks and thought they were just Braxton Hicks, and I didn't realize they were so close together. The doctor came in around 6:30 and checked me, she said I was dilated to a 3, 90% thinned and I was already in labor. She said they were going to give me a shot of morphine and let me sleep and labor though out the night. The next morning not much had changed so around 6:00 am they started me on a low dose of pitosin. Around 7:30 am my contractions were 2-3 minutes apart and pretty hard so I opted for my epidural. The anesthesiologist came in around 8:00 am and we got started, right in the middle of him putting a big needle in my back my water broke, what a feeling.. They got me all cleaned up and settle back in bed and they checked me again at 9:30 am and I was dilated to a 9. The nurse called my doctor and said it's time to get over to the hospital! The nurse had me do a few practice pushes to get me fully dilated but after 2 pushes she said "oh.. we better stop or you'll have this baby before the doctor gets here!" My doctor came rushing in, got all her protective clothing on, I pushed 3 more times and at 10:02 am Sydney was here!! It was such a great experience and I'm so thankful I had my WONDERFUL and SUPPORTIVE husband right there with me thought the whole thing! I also had the BEST doctor in the world and an AMAZING nurse by my side the entire day! Grandma brought Jax over to the hospital to meet his new sister and he was instantly in LOVE with her!
Jax picked these wild flowers for me and brought them to me in the hospital. Grandma wanted to stop and buy flowers but he insisted on picking them himself! What a sweet sweet boy!
When it was time for Syd's first bath Emily (our Favorite Nurse) asked Jax if he wanted to help and he was ecstatic! He helped clean her up, put on lotion and picked out her hat! What a good big brother! It was so nice for the nurse to let Jax be involved, it made him feel extremely important.. which he is!
The other best thing about the Jackson Hospital is this amazing candle light dinner they make for you. We had a delicious steak, baked potato, vegetables, salad, roll and some AMAZING cheesecake! They took the baby to the nursery so Dave and I could just sit with each other and reflect on the day we had just had!
Jax did not want to go home that night, he wanted so bad to stay with his sister. I just love these two and I am so thankful they are mine!
