Finishing 2016

This year when our elf Huey returned he had quite a bit of fun around our house. We are always excited to wake up and see where he's decided to hide and what he's gotten himself into. We also went to G'ma and Papa's house for our annual gingerbread house making day. The kids always look forward to creating a fun and tasty house. This is our 4th year of making them and it's been fun to watch as they get more creative and realistic with the houses. Sydney ends up eating way more candy than she decorates with... but I guess that's what happens at Gam's house.
Jaxsen and Sydney both had their Christmas programs and both did a fantastic job. I recorded Jaxsen's program because it was during the day and Dave missed it so unfortunately I didn't take any pictures.
Sydney got to pick out a new headband and necklace to wear to her program and when she first came out wearing her "tree" and "star" she had a really grumpy look on her face. We all sat in the audience and tried to get her to smile and after a while she brightened up. After the program I asked her why she was so grumpy at the beginning and she said, "That star was covering up my new headband!" Ohhh that girl.

Veterans Day

Jaxsen had a Veteran's Day program and was so proud that he was going to get to carry the flag. He loves being a boy scout and everyday helps Mr. Lance, at the school, take down the flags, folds them up and puts them away. I love spending the day honoring our Veterans. A big special Thanks to my Grandpa, Dave's Grandpa and our brother Rick for their service for our country.

Fall Comings and Goings..

Since I've fallen behind.. a lot.. again I'm just going to do a few big posts and try to catch up.
For Sydney's birthday my mom and I took her to get her first pedicure. She had a great time, she chose blue toenails with polka dots and purple finger nails. She got to sit in the butterfly chair and watch a Barbie movie. I can't believe my little girl is big enough to go get pedicures with. It doesn't seem like that long ago we were waiting for her to arrive. I must admit she sometimes drives me crazy with her independent and feisty attitude but I wouldn't want her any other way. She is passionate about what she likes and doesn't like and not afraid to let you know it. She functions almost completely off milk and candy, (I know.. I know..) and gives the best snuggles (when she feels like it.) All in all it was a great "girls" day.

Jaxsen started 3rd Grade. WHAT?!! How did that happen? He is growing into such an incredible young man. He doesn't particularly LOVE school but he was ready to get back to see his friends and have a change from the every day summer life. This is his last  year in Tetonia and will head to Rendezvous Upper Elementary next year.
Sydney started her last year in Preschool. She's so excited and I'm a little sad. Next year I have to send her to school 5 days a week and I'm not sure what I'm going to do with out my little shadow. She just loves loves school and is learning so much. I'm always surprised when she comes home and tells me what she's learned that day.

Jaxsen got a new horse this year "Bo" and he got a beautiful fall ride in before it decided to snow on us. After his horse "adventure" last year with Spots, him and Papa decided that even though it wasn't Spots that kicked him and since she was so big and dominate that he needed something just a little bit different. He loves Bo and they are a great team. After last year I'm just so happy to see him back in the saddle.

Halloween seemed to last about 2 1/2 weeks this year. Jaxsen had his carnival, Sydney had her carnival, they both got to dress up for school and then Halloween was a few days later. For Jaxsens' carnival I made a Frankenstein cake and it was a big hit. I also won $50 in the chili cook off. My crock pot was the only empty one and it didn't even make it through the whole 2 hour carnival. The kids  had a great time. Jaxsen was a cowboy and Sydney was Princess Elsa. Then for Sydneys' carnival Jaxsen was a bull rider and Syd was Tinkerbell. (Quite the change up)
We also carved pumpkins and the kids always love doing that!

This is Jaxsens first year in scouts and he is really loving it. He takes his scouting very serious and loves to serve others. He loves to carry the flag in and out of the pack meetings and takes great pride in wearing his uniform. I'm sure we are going to have many many many more scout meeting in our future.

Sydney is growing and changing into such a cute little girl. Every once in a while I catch a glimpse of her and she'll look like she's 15. Her face is starting to thin out and her features are become more dominate. She really is such a pretty little girl. Every time I get the camera out I'm not sure what I'm going to get. These pictures just prove she has many different faces. Ha-ha She finished a session of gymnastics in November and he just LOVES it. She also moved into the older age class and is improving every week. She goes to gymnastics then comes home and practices and practices until she gets it. I love to see her face when things finally click and come together.

This year for Thanksgiving we got to have a BIG family dinner. Tyler and Parker were here going to school, so Andrea, Aliza and Maris came up. Becky, Madison and Will came up and Dan, Kennedy and Josh came and it was so great to see everyone. I don't think we've been able to get this many cousins together for a few years. And of course with every nice picture comes a goofy one.
