This year I decided since we live just across the highway from where the balloons launch I would wake the kids up early and walk over and see the balloons fill up and take off. The kids had a great time. Sydney kept saying "I want to go in there" and Jaxsen said "OH NO WAY" sounds like the battle between me and Dave for years.. :) It was good to see all the work that goes into the balloons.
The day before the 4th Papa called and asked if Jaxsen could come out and help him make a new sidewalk before the 4th. He was so excited that Papa asked him to help.
And of course.. whatever brother does Sydney wants to do to. She went right to work pounding on wood and swinging that hammer around. Papa is so good and patient with the kids and they just love Grandma and Papa.
Of course we enjoyed the parade.. It's tradition. The kids both caught enough candy to make their bellies sick.
After the parade we went back to Grandma and Papa's house for scones and jam. Then we started on all the famous 4th of July lunch fixins. We had a fun afternoon. Then we headed over to my parents house to have a chicken fry and wait for the fireworks. We have the best view of the fireworks at our house and no traffic so after we had dinner we headed home and bundled up because it was getting chilly.
